In celebration of Read Across America, an event that started as a day to honor the March 2 birthday of the greater Dr. Seuss, but has evolved to encompass the entire month of March, several Lowell Police officers, LPD Superintendent Ken Lavallee, Deputy Superintendent Arthur Ryan and Mayor Patrick Murphy read to students at the Lincoln Elementary School Tuesday morning.
Thanks should go out to Lincoln School Literacy Specialist Sheila Brisson (not pictured) who got the event started by emailing me asking for officers to volunteer! After emailing the request, a good number of patrolmen and supervisors responded to me saying that they would be happy to participate. Thanks should also go out to the officers that stepped up to help with this event by volunteering their own time, even the officers that had responded but, were unable to make it! It really was a very nice event! The smiling faces were on the participants as well as the kids! Thanks again go out to all participants and feel free to send me another email and maybe we can do it again at another school location! – Paul Corcoran LPD Safety Officer.
Glad to have done this event with the kids! Sorry I was too busy to get in to one of the pictures though. In my retirement now, I would have liked to have one! Thanks again! Paul Corcoran.
