city implements heat relief measures
In order to help residents cope with a holiday heat wave and with a heat advisory issued until 8 p.m. tonight, the City has implemented the following measures to help residents stay cool.
Pools and splash pad—The McPherson Park and South Common pools as well as the Merrimack River Rynne Beach and the Shedd Park splash pad will be open until 8 p.m. today and tomorrow.
· Senior Center—will be open to all residents until 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow until noon.
· Misting stations—have been set up at Hadley Field on Middlesex Street and at Fr. Maguire Park. These will be on throughout the weekend.
“We want to make sure that Lowell’s residents, especially those most vulnerable to heat-related issues, have options for keeping cool during this early heat advisory,” said City Manager Bernie Lynch. “We will continue to monitor weather advisories as the summer progresses and will implement heat relief measures whenever necessary.”
