We had a fun visit from an enthusiastic group of 2nd graders from the Immaculate Conception School this afternoon. Mayor Murphy gave them the quick version of how city government works and they asked some really good questions about how the mayor is chosen, what the job entails . . . and whether the Mayor lives at City Hall.
When it was revealed that the Mayor does not actually live at City Hall, but in the Lower Highlands neighborhood, one student, possibly concerned about the Mayor’s carbon footprint or the stressful effects of a lengthy commute, asked if his home was far from City Hall. He assured her it is not, and that most of the time he walks from home to City Hall.
LOVE it! What a great learning experience for such an AWESOME group of kids!
